Travel Cruise Adventures :: MSC Cruise Line MSC Cruise Line:Fantasia - Jewel of the MSC Cruise Line
Custom Search
MSC Cruise Line launched their new flagship liner, the Fantasia, in December of last year. A huge, glamorous ship, the Fantasia carries more than 3,000 passengers. It is the largest cruise ship ever built by a ship-owner based in Europe. Helen of Troy may have been the face that launched a thousand ships, but the face that launched this face was just as beautiful. Famed Italian actress Sophia Loren was on hand for the official launch and christening of the MSC Cruise Line's jewel on December 18, 2008 in Naples, Italy. European Flare The MSC cruise line isn't your typical American cruise line like Carnival or Princess. They do things in a very European way. This includes everything from languages spoken on board to pricing aboard the ship. MSC is trying to extend their services into North America a little more, and will continue to do so with the eventual launch of the Fantasia's sister ship, the Splendida, but there are some things that might be lost in translation. Pricing First and foremost in the differences from standard cruises is pricing. The MSC cruise line does not approach all inclusive the same way that other cruise lines do. Generally food is sold a la carte and is not included in package pricing. Room service also isn't included. Glamour Not only did the MSC cruise line build a ship that is the height of beauty with a mix of avant garde and classic Italian style and design, they made sure that the ship itself was filled with amenities that would make for a fun, glamour-filled vacation. There is a high-end French restaurant, an Italian wine and tapas bar and a piazza with a patisserie, cafe and gelato stand. Not to mention the boutiques and a luxury spa with a Turkish bath. The state rooms themselves are the height of indulgence. Almost all the rooms have private balconies or verandahs. The MSC Yacht Club Meant for those with the fanciest of pants, the MSC Yacht Club brings a real air of exclusivity to some experiences on MSC cruise lines. The state rooms that are part of the MSC Yacht Club are all centered around the bow of the ship and have their own private luxuries. These rooms have a unique perk that most people who travel on MSC cruise lines don't experience. They have a private lounge and pool area. Oh, the life!
