Disney cruise lines jobs are a great way to travel the world, see new countries, learn new skills and get the Disney experience all at once. But working at Disney isn't a day in the park - it is a real job - so before you decide if working on Disney Cruise Lines is for you, there are some things you should keep in mind. Attitude There aren't just seven dwarves at Disney. There are also seven service guidelines for employees on cruise ships. Bad attitudes just don't make the cut. You know how they say that at McDonald's "a smile is free?" Well, it's the same thing on Disney Cruise Lines. In a nutshell, employees are expected to smile, greet, welcome and thank every guest, seek out interactions, make eye contact, provide service, keep their body language positive and friendly and make vacation experiences “magical” for everybody. Types of Jobs There is more to working on Disney Cruise lines than dressing up like Mickey or Goofy. There are cruise staff jobs in everything from food and beverage, guest services and housekeeping to life guarding, youth counseling and engineering. However if you really do want to dress up like Goofy, there are also jobs as character performers, and other onstage and entertainment jobs. You can find jobs driving trams, hosting activities and running onboard games. Life Aboard a Cruise Ship Depending on your job - and there are many types of jobs - your schedule may be very busy and you might not get to enjoy the cruise as much as you want. There can be long hours, but if you really like life at sea, the rewards are high, too. Loving the ocean is really the most important thing about enjoying life aboard a cruise ship. You can be posted for months at a time and your contact with your friends and family at home can be somewhat limited. It isn't a job for everybody. Keeping the Magic Alive Disney Cruise Lines definitely offer the opportunity for a fun and rewarding career path. But you have to remember that working for a theme park isn't like going to a theme park for fun, whether it's Disney or Six Flags. So if you are a big kid at heart, love amusement parks and don't want to ruin the magic of Disney by turning it into a nine-to-five job, then maybe working for Disney Cruise Lines isn't for you.
