Cruise Scenes You'll Love

American cruise lines offers nine small ship cruises along the east coast of the United States.

With seven, eight and fifteen day cruises aboard one of four small but luxurious ships, it is a great low-key vacation alternative to a larger cruise lines.

In the late 1970s, nothing said fun and glamour like a cruise vacation. All you have to do is look to "The Love Boat" to tell you that.

The company started in the early 1970s and really flourished in that period, but the company sank in 1989. The original owner decided to try again in 2000, and so we have the new, improved American Cruise Lines that is still running today.

The Ships

There are four ships in the American Cruise Lines fleet: the American Eagle, the American Glory, the American Spirit and the American Star.

There are around fifty rooms on each of the ships, except the American Glory which only has thirty-one.

Each of the ships have comfortable state rooms, with beautiful features like picture windows and private balconies.

There are also lounges and observation decks where the passengers can meet and greet one another, if they want a break from the privacy of their rooms.

The Routes

American Cruise Lines has nine destinations. While all the trips are around the eastern seaboard of the U.S., the vacations all vary from place to place.

The routes that the different cruise lines take are in grand New England, the New England Islands, Maine's coast and harbors, the great rivers of Florida, Chesapeake Bay, the Hudson River, Antebellum South, the Mid-Atlantic Inland and East Coast Inland passages.

The Perks

The cruises on American Cruise Lines are very laid back, and let you enjoy the eastern seaboard as if you were traveling on your own.

If you end up in a port of call where you know someone, you can invite them back to the ship for dinner.

And if you decide that you don't want to go on one of the planned shore excursions, you don't have to worry about making official cancellations: if you don't show, you don't pay.

Staying Local

One of the great things about going on a cruise with American Cruise Lines is that you get all the benefits of a luxury cruise with none of the hassles of going overseas.

Since the ships stay in inland waters, you don't need a passport and you don't have to deal with any customs hassles.
