All inclusive cruises make going on vacation really easy since all your ancillary decisions are made for you. However there are a lot of things to consider when you are deciding if you want to go with an all inclusive cruise or if you want to leave some of your decisions - like where to eat and what to do for fun - to spur-of-the-moment decision-making. Budgeting When you are budgeting for a cruise vacation, it's more than just accounting for the cost of the state room. There are many incidentals that can really drive up the cost of your holiday. Budgeting for all inclusive cruises takes a bit of the spontaneity out of your vacation, but it also removes a lot of the hassles. Because there are a lot of different cruise lines with a lot of different packages, you may want to do quite a bit of research before settling on a specific holiday package. You should find out what exactly "all inclusive" means to a cruise line and make sure that you are really getting what you think you are paying for. Sometimes it might include all your food, but sometimes it may be very specific meals meaning that any snacks you want in the middle of the night or afternoon are going to cost you extra. Expenses That Packages Cover You can pretty much count on an all expenses cruise to cover the basics like meals, drinks and entertainment, but there are more extensive packages as well. They will cost you more, but they include more exciting items. Larger packages may include things like shore excursions, scuba equipment and fancy dinners. Depending on your budget and interests you can talk to someone who works with the cruise line or your travel agent to find out what kinds of packages are available. Types of Packages There are tons of options for all inclusive cruises, so don't let the fact that you are planning your cruise for a specific reason make you think that you can't find an all inclusive package. There is something for everyone. Some of the types of all inclusive cruises are honeymoon cruises, family cruises, golf cruises and even spring break or adult only cruises. Advantages & Disadvantages The main advantage of all inclusive cruises is also the main disadvantage: you have all the main details nailed down, but it cuts down on how spontaneous you can be about food and entertainment. Also, as much as all inclusive cruises include the basics, they don't include everything you might want. Some cruises don't include alcohol and there may be some limitations on the entertainment. You should always do research to make sure you are getting what you want for the best price. See also: All Articles for Travel Cruise Adventures
