Over recent years Alaskan cruise packages have grown in popularity. More and more people, throughout the world, are looking to visit and explore America’s last great frontier rather than only its heartland, such as a cruise down the Mississippi. One of the best ways to see the Alaskan frontiers is from an Alaskan cruise ship. Types of Alaskan Cruise Packages Alaskan cruises generally come two types of packages. There is the Inside Passage cruise and the Gulf passage cruise. The Inside Passage cruise is the more traditional of the two cruise packages. Most inside passage cruise ships sail round trip, starting from Vancouver or Seattle, and sail through glacier channels toward Skagway or Juneau. The Gulf cruises, however, cover much more Alaskan territory, to include through the Inside Passage, beginning or ending in Seward or Anchorage, depending on your package choice. The airfare for the Gulf passage cruise is generally more expensive because the starting points are farther north. Breathtaking Beauty of Nature Regardless of what Alaskan cruise package you may choose you will be taken on a journey of the wonders of the Alaskan territory. The wildlife of Alaska is absolutely breathtaking; Baleen whales chasing and dining on krill or brown and black bears forging for food will be an unforgettable experience. The American bald eagle is also a resident of this area, as well as sea otters and seals. You might even catch a glimpse of a polar bear. Gold Rush Alaskan cruise packages will also take you along the Alaskan coastline which you will be able to see some historical gold rush towns. These towns possess remnants of Russian heritage along with Native American culture and art. Alaska is a place where the harsh wilderness and man’s assimilation of it come together. You can even arrange for sea kayaking, salmon fishing, and hiking as part of your travel itinerary. Seasons Available The Alaskan cruise packages do have a short season though, due to the areas nearly unbearable winters. The Alaskan cruise season starts in May and runs through the end of September. Most cruise packages are from seven to twelve days in length, and are considered to be the most expensive within the travel industry. Many Alaskan cruise packages can be purchased with an additional land tour if you so choose. You’ll be able to visit the Denali National Park, the Canadian Rockies, and the Yukon peninsula gold rush country, as examples of travel package options. If you are interested in exploring these areas be sure to let your travel coordinator know of your travel interests. All Articles for Travel Cruise Adventures
