Fun in the Sun without Breaking the Bank

It is no secret today that people are looking for cruise special offers. After all, taking a cruise has become very popular. People go on them for their honeymoon, their anniversary, a cruise down the Mississippi River, important birthday or for a family reunion, to name only a few special occasions.

And then there are those people who look for cruise special offers just to get away for a quick weekend vacation. So, the question becomes: how do you find really good cruise special offers?

Know Where to Look and Where NOT to Look

Okay, tip number one here: don’t expect to see the best cruise special offers on the web sites of the cruise lines! It is not in their best interest to offer really good cruise special offers; they are (after all) trying to make the most money on their ships.

Now, bear in mind, I said the “best” cruise special offers. You can find offers there, you just have to know where – or perhaps the correct term is: when to look. There is that old term: “off season”.

Now, some people might say: “Wait a minute, these are cruise lines going to the Caribbean, when is there ever an off season for there?” It doesn’t so much have to do with an off season for the area, but the off season for travel.

Think about it, when is the slow time for vacations? In September and early fall. The kids are back in school, so families rarely take time off then. So, when looking over the offerings of cruise special offers on a cruise line’s web site: check September first. That is when they are going to offer the best deals.

Next tip, check out the discount web sites like www.vacations-to-go.com and look at cruises that are going to be departing in a month or two. You see, as sailing time fast approaches, that is when the cruise lines start to worry about not filling the ship. So, rather than let a cabin go empty, they will allow one of these discount companies to offer cruise special offers so they can fill the ship.

Here is yet another little secret for you: the cruise ships make their main money once you are onboard. They will bend over backwards to give cruise special offers because they are hoping you gamble the night away (along with your savings!).
